[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] The NFL allegedly reworked its exclusive deal with EA on the Madden NFL game franchise to give the publisher an out if the current labor situation in the league doesn't improve. This, GamePro Executive Editor Tom Price says,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is why games don't need exclusive sports licenses.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Of course,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], maybe they're on to something. The NFLPA is holding EA to their contract, as they should. Maybe the player's should be looking a little more closely at that deal with EA as well. What would happen if the NFLPA decided to not continue working with EA and refused to let player names and attributes be used in a game that had the rest of the NFL license? I'll tell you, EA would be screwed, and by extension,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so would the NFL. The Madden deal is a huge revenue stream for both of them. What it seems like could happen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is the NFL, NFLPA and EA could wind up in a Mexican standoff. But this time, there's a fourth party and all guns are pointed at them: the fans [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

I am not in favor of these exclusive sports licenses. If EA and 2K and whoever else could make competing NFL games, we would have seen some serious advancement in the genre by now. Or at least some options for people who don't want to play one company's interpretation of the sport. It seems like everything the NFL has been doing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], from signing this exclusive EA deal to the cockamamie plans to expand the season to 18 games is really only about one thing: money. Personally I'm tired of it and I'll be buying my overpriced beer and nose-bleed seats from purveyors of rounder ball sports from now on.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] I couldn't agree more with this article. The monopoly EA has over the football genre really turned me off from football games. Last football game I purchased was NCAA 08'. Before that was NFL 2k5. I was hoping the 2k reboot would bring some needed competition to the football genre, unfortunately that never happened. How great would it be if the NFLPA did back out of the deal, and 2k teamed up with the player's union to give us a Tecmo Bowl style game. Leaving the Madden franchise looking like the NFL during the players strike back in 87'. With that said, competition is healthy. Till there is some competition I plan on sticking to MLB the show, and NHL games.
Frankly, anything that reminds me of the untenable situation between the NFL owners and players right now just makes me want to cry into my Tom Rathman jersey. But when you compound it with EA and their monopoly over the video game license -- still a touchy subject -- it makes me really glad that opening day for the MLB is fast approaching. All of these millionaires arguing over just how rich they should they should be is driving me nuts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that's not a shot aimed at the players. Everyone is guilty of putting on a sickening display [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Pattaya Open champion Daniela Hantuchova also lost in the first round. The Slovak became dizzy for a time, saying she "couldn't keep track of the score'' at one point,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], before losing to Anna Chakvetadze of Russia 6-1,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 6-3.
Another surprise loser was former No. 1 Ana Ivanovic, who fell 4-6, 7-6 (2),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 6-2 to Patty Schnyder of Switzerland.

Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow could be on the verge of another bestseller.
Tebow,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who had the NFL's top selling jersey as a rookie this past season, has finished co-authoring his autobiography, which is scheduled to be released in bookstores and online in April.
The book,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], published by Harper Collins,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is 256 pages and was written with Nathan Whitaker,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who previously co-authored books with former Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy and NFL broadcaster James Brown.
The Denver Business Journal reported that Tebow, a former Heisman Trophy winner who led Florida to two national titles before being drafted in the first round a year ago by the Broncos, would kick off a national promotional tour in Denver upon the book's release.
The book,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], titled "Through My Eyes," has been in the works since last fall.
Lance Armstrong is calling this one "Retirement 2.0.''
Almost a month after finishing 65th in his last competitive race in Australia, and nearly six years removed from the last of an unprecedented seven straight Tour de France titles,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the 39-year-old cyclist made clear there is no reset button this time.
This time, he's leaving professional racing behind for good.
"Never say never,'' Armstrong laughed at the start of an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, then quickly added, "Just kidding.''

DOG SHOW
Now EA [allegedly] comes groveling, offering the NFL a sweetheart deal to give them an extra year to their monopoly, in exchange for less royalties from a game they expect to not sell as well. Newsflash to the NFL and the NFLPA: Madden 12 will sell just fine, even if you don't have a season. Madden will become the season for a lot of fans sick of your shenanigans. Hell, it could wind up being one of Madden's best season's yet, and you just gave EA permission to keep more of that money and have another year on their contract. If these are your negotiating skills, then I really wish I was the head of the player's union right now [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] wholsale.
