“We have doubled the amount of women’s items than we had five years ago,” said Mike Perriello, pro shop manager in Foxboro. “Women’s is the fastest-growing category.”
This season also marked the first time that the NFL dedicated a marketing campaign to women’s apparel. Called “Fit For You,” the $10 million ads featuring players’ wives and daughters were aimed at 20- to 40-year-olds and featured headlines such as “Who Says Football Isn’t Pretty?” and “Love Your Team Without Looking Like You’re on It.”
“They certainly go after a woman’s fashion sense,” said McIsaac as she shopped wearing a red-and-white Patriots throwback hoodie with the old Pat Patriot logo. It cost $64.95. “Women are the ones who will spend on this stuff; they are going after the right market.”
