"That’s a positive for our [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]s fans
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] On a Super Bowl for Arrowhead Stadium: "We’re going to play our first Super Bowl in 2014 in a northern climate (at the New Meadowlands Stadium). It’s obviously the No. 1 market in the United States, and it’s hosting two teams in that stadium. We want to see what the experience is. But the issue is having the infrastructure to host these games … 26,000 hotel rooms … the ability to move people who come in for these games.”([link widoczny dla zalogowanych])
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] First off, the competition's start date has been pushed back. Last year, McGilberry won on the first day the game was released (and almost a month before baseball season started) using spring training rosters and pitching inside a spring training stadium. This year, gamers will have more of a chance to practice, as "MLB 2K11" ships March 8, but the first day of the million-dollar challenge isn't until April 1. That way, gamers will be playing with the Opening Day starting lineups inside virtual Major League ballparks as they try to be the first person to throw a verified perfect game. (You'll need to record yourself playing and send it to 2K.)[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
"We wanted to give the competition a more true-to-life experience," says Chris Snyder, 2K Sports' director of marketing. "This year, we wanted the competition to coincide more with Opening Day, so now fans who buy the game on launch day will have almost a full month to practice before they go for the million dollars.

Wearing a casual blue sweater and open-collar shirt, Goodell presided at a town hall meeting for about 60 randomly selected Chiefs season-ticket holders before Sunday’s playoff game against Baltimore.
Questions and answers ranged from player safety to rules interpretations, technology in stadiums and on television sets at home, television blackouts, the 18-game regular season, the unavailability of NFL Network in Kansas City and … the biggest issue facing the league.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Will there be pro football in 2011? Can the players and owners reach an agreement on a new labor contract before the current one expires on March 4 ?
Goodell is sure of one thing. If the negotiations stretch too far past March 4, the more difficult it will be to get a deal done.
The players are demanding a continuation of the current system in which they receive 60 percent of league revenues. But a work stoppage is guaranteed to cut into the league’s revenues estimated at about $8 billion a year even after an agreement is reached.
“I’ve been very clear with both the ownership and the players, that it becomes more complicated after March 4, because what you’re going to see is the revenue and the growth start to deteriorate,” Goodell said. “That’s going to make it harder to make an agreement [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
“And since the players get a majority of that, the players will be impacted by that. That’s why you can’t wait until September, and say, ‘Ok, we’ve got to do this’. There are growth opportunities and revenue potential that will be impacted immediately … ticket sales, sponsorships, licensing …people won’t order the kind of jerseys, if (the players) are not going to play. The fan says, ‘I’m not going to take the financial risk.’’’
So why don't Goodell and his advisors go into a room with NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith, lock the door and not come out until they reach an agreement?
“[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] It’s more than just going into the room,” said Goodell, who said there has not been a negotiation session in three weeks. “You’ve got to get a commitment that you’re going to reach an agreement in the time period. There’s a lot of rhetoric, there are a lot of positions, a lot of different strategies … I’ve always said it’s got to come down to the negotiating table. I hope the union will get to the table and we’ll be able to resolve the differences.”
One of the lightning rods in the negotiations is the league’s desire to implement an 18-game regular season and reduce the exhibition season by two games. Those two games can produce more revenue than preseason games, which will benefit the players’ paychecks. But two extra games will take a toll on players who absorb a beating during the 16-game season.
“You’re not adding, it’s still a 20-game schedule,” Goodell says. “The quality of those preseason games has gone down because the players aren’t playing, the games are meaningless, and in the environment like we are now, there’s much more a desire on the fans’ part to create value, to have quality. They don’t want to continue to pay for something that is not representing quality.”
Some players are balking on having to play two more games, and considering the pounding they take, adding games seems to contradict the NFL’s emphasis on player safety [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
“It’s a negotiation,” Goodell said. “We all should keep that in mind. The issues of player safety are always going to be first priority, whether it’s a 20-game format or some other format.
“They get a percentage of all the revenue, and we need to make sure we’re doing what we can so that it’s growing opportunity for the league and the players, because they get a majority of that.”
Some of the fans who attended the meeting were impressed with what they heard from Goodell [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
